Engineering novel inducible promoters
This year, the UCLA iGEM team is developing inducible promoters like none other. We have identified potential new repression mechanisms, and are currently in the process of testing our promoter variants. Inducible promoters are valuable tools for genetic engineering because of their ability to regulate gene expression with physical and chemical cues, and we hope our findings will pave the way towards tighter gene control and lend new insights into how these incredible regulatory elements behave.
